Women in Action Fun Day
We would like to invite your group/organisation to enter a team to participate in the first Women in Action Fun Day to celebrate International Women’s Day on Saturday 20th March, 2010, at Manchester Academy School. We are inviting women’s groups and organisations from across the city to enter teams to participate in fun sports activities and leisure and wellbeing workshops on the day. The fun day is for women only and will be run by female volunteers, instructors and workshop leaders.

We would like you to enter a team of between 5 and 8 women aged 16 years and over. The fun day will take part between 2:00pm and 5pm. We would like teams to register to take part in the competition no later than 2:15pm so we can make sure that the competition starts on time.
All women on your team should wear comfortable clothes and trainers/flat shoes so that they can safely take part in the activities on the day.
Alongside the team games there will be leisure and wellbeing mini-workshop sessions and representatives from other women’s groups and sports/leisure organisations who will be able to provide information different sports/leisure and wellbeing activities in Manchester.
If you have children and would like to take part we have organised free crèche facilities for children under 7 years old. Crèche places are limited so we would recommend that you book a place for your child in advance, by the 15th of March. If you would like to book a place for your child please contact Jenny Loudon on the email address or number provided. We will just need your name, the group/organisation you are part of and the age of your child to confirm the booking.
The fun day has been organised by Inter Mancunia Football Club. We are a new community club set up by volunteers to make football more accessible to young refugees and asylum seekers in Manchester. We welcome players from many different backgrounds and countries with a range of skills and experience of football. We want to be able to offer more activities and leisure opportunities to young women so we decided to hold a fun day to find out from you the types of activities and sports young women would most like to participate in. So why not come along and join in the fun and tell us what you think!
Refreshments will be provided and there will be prizes for the winning team. There will be a Fun Day Champions Trophy, a Fair Play Team Trophy and an individual award for Woman of the Day. We hope you can join us and help make the first Women in Action Fun Day a success.
