Read all about the Brighter Futures Cup

Most excellent website Manchester Mouth sent an eager young reporter to cover our fantastic tournament, the Brighter Futures Cup. Read it!

One small note: the score in the final was actually 3-1 to Salford Welcome, not 1-0.

A few updates

We had our first AGM (stands for annual general meeting) the other day. We're writing up the minutes and will make them available to download on here for anyone who wants to see them. Then on Sunday we had a barbecue and games day in Hulme, which went really well - the turnout was great and the sun shone. Photos to be posted here in the next couple of days. Finally, the home page now refers to a tournament that we and some partners are planning to stage next month. We know people are going to want details and we promise to provide them within the next week or so, so keep checking back.

IMFC draw first friendly

The talented Inter Mancunia lads took on a team of visitors last week, in what was our very first match. A fiercely contested friendly ended in (we think) a 5-5 draw. One player who has no idea what the score was is IM volunteer Jonathan 'Aki' Atkinson, who was carried off with concussion playing for the opposition. Purely accidental of course. We're planning something much, much bigger soon, so watch this space...

Take on the mighty IMFC!

Inter Mancunia are looking for players to play against in our very first friendly match, to be held on Thursday 11 June. It will be an 11-a-side game lasting 60 minutes, at our usual home of Manchester Academy School. Kick off is 6.15pm. If you're interested in playing, or know anyone who might be, call Jonathan on 0782 861 7933.

Launch party a big success

Inter Mancunia is up and running, with last night's launch party everything we could have hoped for and more. We had a great turnout and have signed up loads of players and volunteers. Highlights included the penalty shoot-out competition (complete with comedy inflatable shoes), the ultra-competitive table football tournament, and the wonderful food. A huge thanks to everyone who helped to make it happen. Full report and lots of photos to follow soon.

And here we are in the Asian News.

Our first press release

We are proud to present our very first press release. We'd love some publicity before next week's launch party, so if you know anyone - especially in the local media - who might be interested, then do send it to them as soon as possible. It's already gone out to some local news desks including all the relevant publications in the MEN Group.

Translations coming soon

We are of course aware that a large number of the people this is aimed at are not fluent English readers. So we're very happy to announce that we will soon have translations of the most important details in quite a few languages. At the last count these included Dari, Farsi, Kurdish, Arabic, Tigrinyan, Cantonese, Portuguese and French. Watch this space.
